Originally wanting to go to Yosemite, plans quickly changed because of the recent forest fire there. Instead, we decided to go camping at Mammoth Lakes! We arrived during the night, set up camp, had a little adventure going into town to find an atm to pay for camping and finally fell asleep.
The next morning we had our delicious oatmeal breakfast and headed for a photoshoot by the lakes. We also ended up going on a hike and having lunch on the cliffs above the lake.
We also went on a hike to Rainbow Falls and that was an adventure in itself. It was a beautiful hike but just as we reached the waterfall it started drizzling. Then as we rushed back on the hike it started thunderstorming nearby us. We were worried our things would get wet back at camp because we forgot to put the cover on the tent so we sprinted the whole hike back. Thankfully the storm didn’t reach our camping spot and our things were safe.
The next morning we were supposed to do another sunrise shoot but our car battery stopped working. Luckily we were able to get it jumped a little bit later but the battery seemed to be at its last hours and we were scared to turn the car off. We did a quick stop at Convict Lakes, took turns walking around and taking photos and headed into the next town to find a mechanic.
After too many car shops later we finally found someone who had our battery and was willing to install it for us! Finally being able to breathe we parked our car, had breakfast and explored the town of Bishop. With that, we headed towards home, through another thunderstorm and flash flood warnings. Needless to say, many things went wrong on this trip but it goes to show if you travel with the right people you can still have the time of your life. Being able to quickly adjust and keep a positive attitude when traveling will let you truly enjoy it.
